Four decades, innumerable hours, thousands of pizzas, and a whole lot of hard work, and here we are celebrating our 40th Anniversary! From that first Zachary’s, a tiny little restaurant on College Ave in Oakland, to today with five East Bay locations, over 225 ‘Best Pizza’ Awards, and 100% employee-ownership, we couldn’t be more grateful for the love and support from our amazing communities and customers.

Join us on July 25th as we commemorate 40 amazing years! To show our appreciation and mark this momentous milestone and our birth year, our ready-to-go, small, stuffed Spinach & Mushroom half-baked pizzas will sell for just $19.83! Stop by and pick one up to finish cooking at home for dinner. Or better yet, stock up for the week or weekend and (pizza) party like it’s 1983! 😜

All five Zachary’s locations will be participating from 11am to closing on July 25th. Limit of 3 pizzas per person. Small, ready-to-go, Spinach & Mushroom half-baked pizzas only. No preorders or holds. Third-party delivery and online orders are excluded. First come, first served and while supplies last. 

Note: Our dining room at Zachary’s Rockridge will be closing at 4:30pm that afternoon for a private event; that location will still be open for takeout (and those $19.83 half-baked pizzas!) all day. All other locations will be open for both dine-in and takeout during normal hours. If you were planning to dine at Zachary’s Rockridge on July 25th after 4:30pm, we recommend visiting Zachary’s Grand Lake instead!

Dine-in at Zachary’s Grand Lake, Pleasanton, and North Berkeley Tuesday evening and enjoy live music from three Bay Area high schools!
Jazz ensembles from Amador Valley, Berkeley, and Oakland High Schools will be performing Tuesday evening. All three groups are incredibly talented and we are so excited to have them performing for our anniversary! All performances are slated to start around 6pm. 
Zachary’s Grand Lake is featuring a jazz duo from Oakland High Jazz Band, Zachary’s North Berkeley is featuring a jazz trio curtesy of Berkeley High Jazz, and Zachary’s Pleasanton is welcoming Amador Jazz Collective from Amador Valley High Jazz on the patio! Come for the pizza, stay for the ambiance

Mark. Your. Calendars. Phoebe Cakes is coming to Zachary’s Grand Lake to host a special night of Drag Trivia!

June 28th we’re bringing the lovely and talented Phoebe Cakes for a special night of Pizza Mind Trivia- the Drag Edition at Zachary’s Grand Lake! It’s going to be a night not to be missed. Special performances will take place between rounds. Drink specials will be flowing. Minds will be thinking. Pizzas will be cooking. And the first place winner will take home a $50 Zachary’s Gift Certificate.

Event starts at 6:30pm at Zachary’s Grand Lake. You’re encouraged to come in attire should you so desire! We’d love to see it 😉 Be sure to get there early to secure your spot!

The Zachary’s Art Contest may be officially closed, but the fun has just begun for us 🙂

We spent a fun (albeit very challenging) week voting on all of the amazing and creative artwork we received, both in person and online, for this year’s art contest! We were blown away by your creativity, humor, and skill, and had such a hard time narrowing down the submissions. Narrow them down we had to though, and the winning pieces have finally been chosen and their artists contacted as of last Friday!

We wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who participated in this year’s contest. The Zachary’s Art Contest is one of our most cherished traditions and we love the ability to connect with you in such a fun and engaging way. Pieces not chosen as a winner can be picked up at the location it was submitted to until June 3, 2023. We plan on getting all the new art up over the course of June!

Our first winning design from the Zachary’s T-Shirt Contest is now available online and at all locations! This is the first of four designs created and chosen by our community (that’s you!) as the winners of our first ever t-shirt contest. Rob Corder’s design was the Grand Prize winner overall- which is why it’s first up! Rob is no stranger to Zachary’s. He’s a long time fan and patron, who has also been a past winner in our bi-annual Art Contest (happening now until May 3rd)!

All four shirts will be limited-edition, single runs – meaning once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. So if you like one, or think a Zachary’s fan in your life might, be sure to snatch one up before they sell out.

These shirts don’t just look great, part of their sales is also being donated to two great organizations! We know you’ve been waiting, and the time has arrived to announce the  results of the Zachary’s T-Shirt Contest! How could we narrow it down to one winner when we had such amazing designs and it was an incredibly close race? We couldn’t. This is why we’re thrilled to announce one Grand Prize Winner and three Winners!

Pizza Mind Trivia has arrived at Zachary’s Grand Lake!

Hosted by our very own, Robert Perez, Pizza Mind Trivia takes place every first and third Wednesdays of the month. Join us from 6:30 to 8pm as Robert leads us in a battle of the minds to see who claims first place and a $50 Zachary’s Gift Certificate! Don’t worry if you don’t bag first place, second place wins a $30 Zachary’s Gift Certificate!

There is, of course, a two drink minimum, but with our trivia night menu* featuring $9 house cocktails and $7 draft beers it’s a breeze to fulfill. Small bites options will also be available. Please keep in mind team sizes are limited to 6.

The First Ever Zachary’s T-Shirt Contest has Officially Begun!

We’re extending our T-Shirt Contest until January 15th!

Where are our Vera Wangs, our Dapper Dans, our Stella Jeans and Betsy Johnsons?! We’re calling all of the creatives (professional, amateurs, hobbyist – however you identify!) to the front as we launch our first ever Zachary’s T-Shirt Contest! 

Starting TODAY, November 14th, 2022 and ending 11:59pm January 15th, 2023, we’re accepting digital submissions for a new Zachary’s T-Shirt design. Besides your artwork being immortalized on a Zachary’s tee, the Grand Prize winner(s) will also receive a $200 Zachary’s Gift Certificate and two of their winning t-shirts! 

There is no purchase required to enter – though we personally believe pizza encourages creativity ???? All you need to do is submit your print-ready design in one of the acceptable file formats listed below to hello@zacharys.com on or before the listed end date.

How will the Grand Prize Winner(s) be decided? By you, our dearly loved community! At the end of the contest we’ll choose a handful of our favorite designs that will then be put to a community vote via our social media channels and website. Winners will be notified by phone or email no later than February 20, 2023, and announced publicly shortly thereafter! 

Please read below for important submission and design details, as well as contest rules.

– While designs should incorporate Zachary’s Chicago Pizza logo, they are not required to, but should reference Zachary’s in some way. 

-How to Enter: All designs must be submitted to hello@zacharys.com with a signed entry form by 11:59 pm (PST) January 15, 2023. Acceptable file types are Illustrator (. AI), Vector (. EPS), Photoshop (. PSD), PDF., JPEG., TIFF.

-Selection and Notification of Winner(s): Zachary’s will first judge designs by originality, creativity, and design aesthetic, creating a top round for community vote, under the supervision of Zachary’s.

-Winner Prize: Winner(s) will be awarded a prize package of $200 Zachary’s Gift Certificate & 2 Winning Zachary’s Shirts (total $250 value). All winners will be notified by phone or email no later than February 20, 2023.

–An official Zachary’s T-Shirt Design Contest Rules & Entry Form must be submitted with every entry. The entry form can be downloaded HERE. 

-Contest winner(s) must agree to submit a high-resolution layered vector art file within 7 days of notification (if not submitted initially) and agree to work with Zachary’s printer if slight changes/modifications are necessary for production. If not, an alternate winner may be chosen.

-Eligibility: No purchase required. This Contest is void where prohibited by law.

– All submitted artwork and designs will become the sole property of Zachary’s Chicago Pizza. This includes all subsequent reproductions.

June’s Employee-Owner Anniversaries!

Thinley Celebrates 30 Years!

On June 23rd, we celebrated the one and only Thinley’s 30th anniversary at Zachary’s! Originally hired for our kitchen crew in 1992, Thinley is now the Kitchen General Manager of Zachary’s in Rockridge and North Berkeley! Thinley is a cornerstone of our kitchen and has helped build and develop it almost from the ground up. His work ethic is legendary, as is his ever calm, cool and collected demeanor (seriously, the man is unshakeable).

Christina Celebrates 15 Years!

June 26th marked Christina’s 15th employee-anniversary with us! Christina joined our dining room crew for Oakland-Rockridge and North Berkeley in 2007. Her can-do attitude and precise attention to detail made her a standout who quickly moved up the ranks. Christina has worn many hats for us (seriously, she can and has done it all!) over her 15 years and now leads our HR department as our Human Resources Director!

To say we are grateful and thankful for the efforts and contributions of these two amazing individuals is to put it lightly. They have both helped grow and develop Zachary’s into the employee-owned company we are today and we couldn’t imagine Zachary’s without them. Big, huge, colossal congratulations and thanks to the both of them! ❤️????????
